County Trash Clean-up

October 23, 2023

Historically, Pecos County, with the cooperation of the City of Fort Stockton, has conducted trash clean up weeks.  Pecos County provides labor crews and equipment, and the city of Fort Stockton has provided landfill space.  Last year, the City of Fort Stockton changed their policy and began charging Pecos County for trash collected during cleanup weeks, resulting in an expense to Pecos County of more than $60,000.

Due to the increased landfill expense required to be paid to the City of Fort Stockton, there will NOT be a county-wide trash cleanup this Fall or anytime in the near future.  Pecos County is looking at other options moving forward until further notice, Pecos County residents in the Four Precincts, living outside the city limits, are requested to deliver their own trash to the city of Fort Stockton Landfill.

Thank you.

Pecos County Commisioners Court.
